I use a stripping fruit basket...but that doesn't apply to what you are trying to achieve. Sorry bro.

I use one. Made it myself. Next time your in a Stop & Shop ask a produce clerk for a coconut box, they make great striping baskets. They are like a light weight elongated milk crate. Just add a belt of some sort. I would never pay $40.00 for one. I'm too Irish and cheap! Aside from keeping you from becoming tangled they can give you a little extra distance by reducing surface drag as you shoot the line on the forward cast.

50 bucks for a stripping basket????...um..i don't think so............hopped into the truck and took a ride to home cheapo.

for material ---around $15.

works great. Keeps line nice and tidy. I found an adjustable belt in my attic to componsate for my ever growing buddha belly. Damn little debbie chocolate covered rice cakes !!!!!!!!!!!!...Who knew shakespeare makes weed wacker material

This is just a prottype for know...I need to find a plastic container with a radius on one side...would fits the curves better. Tryed using it hip shooter style ( mangrove hip shooter) works ok....needs to be hung lower.

With the weed wacker strings, i simply drilled a hole a smidgen smaller than the diameter of the strings, and hot glued them in........this stripping basket is DYNOMITE !...

I have several homemade baskets but I always go back to using the Orvis SB.

I inherited a SB from my brother (his was home-made too) but I haven't used it. What is the purpose of the upright loops/spikes? (like his, some use loops).

Intuitively, these would seem "grab" at the exiting line and create drag. Obviously, they must help since most baskets have 'em, but I just don't "get" how.

Anyone?

i tried the whole home made basket... I invested in the Orvis SB this year.. huge improvement! I had one similar to the one Borg posted the DYI of using weed wacker line for the spines. I have noticed a difference in my cast switching to the Orvis basket though
